Community Outreach


Moss Bluff UMC participates in many different ministries in the community.  

Backpack Blessings Ministry: In partnership with Moss Bluff Elementary, Moss Bluff Middle School, and Gillis Elementray we provide food for families with school aged children who struggle to have a hot meal on the weekends. 

Needed Items Include:

Individual cereal boxes
Pop Tarts
Chicken noodle soup
Vienna sausages
Beanee Weenees
Chef Boyardee pasta (7.5oz)
Individual salty snacks (excluding chips)
Pudding cups
Fruit cups
Individual bags of cookies
Yoo Hoo Boxes (6.5oz)
Fruit Juice boxes

Westlake Food Pantry:  The church collects food items that are distributed through the food pantry at Westlake UMC. Any non-perishable food items are welcome. 
Moss Bluff Thrift Shop: We collect donations from the community and 50% of the profits go to local non-profits and 50% helps support the mission and ministry  of Moss Bluff UMC. (The Thrift Shop is currently closed due to storm damage and COVID-19). 
Hurricane Ida RecoveryIn partnership with our Louisiana United Methodist Disaster Response ministries and the Rotary club we are hosting a supply drive for communities effected by Hurricane Ida. You can bring these items to the church at 735 Sam Houston Jones Parkway, Lake Charles. There is a donation bin outside the double glass doors underneath the overhang. Thank you for your participation!
